Panhellenic Recruitment Schedule

The Panhellenic Council (PHC) has 7 member sororities of which 6 host Formal Recruitment activities beginning on Saturday, August 31, 2019 and ending on Tuesday, September 3, 2019.  All women interested in participating in Sorority Formal Recruitment must fully register online through CampusDirector prior to 5:00 p.m. MDT on Thursday, August 29th. An easy way for you to remember this is that you have to register for recruitment before Utah Football kicks off for the season!  The cost to  participate in recruitment is $50.00 (non-refundable) and must be paid online via the registration process.

Fall 2019 Recruitment Schedule:

Recruitment Orientation

We are so excited to see you! Please arrive at the Student Union Ballroom by 6:00pm to get check-in. During the next 90 minutes, you will learn more about how recruitment works, get all the materials you need for the weekend, and spend time in your recruitment group! You will travel with your recruitment group during Day 1 and these women will most likely become great friends! While meeting your recruitment group, your recruitment counselors (Rho Gammas) will talk to you about the logistics for Day 1 and provide you with their tips and support before meeting the chapters on Saturday.

Chapter Pride Day

Day one of the recruitment process, each potential new member (PNM) will meet with all six (6) sororities within the Panhellenic Council that participate in formal recruitment. You will discover more about Greek Life, and begin to picture a possible ‘home’ in our community. Each chapter will show you the pride they have for their organization and tell you more about their unique philanthropic cause and sisterhood activities. We will also conduct break-out sessions throughout the day to give you a better understanding and fuller depth of what it means to be a sorority woman at Utah.

Sunday, September 1, 2019

Values & Investment Round

The second day of the weekend, you have the opportunity to visit up to four (4) chapters as you narrow down your search. Chapters will share with you their expected committment, specifically what your "return on invest" from their chapter should be, and how their organizational and personal values are displayed.

Monday, September 2, 2019

Preference Dessert

You will be able to attend up to two (2) chapters' preference ceremonies. This is the most formal day of recruitment and chapters will invite you to see a piece of their Ritual as they share why they love their organization.

At the conclusion of the ceremonies, PNMs and chapter members will follow strict silence as they sign a Membership Recruitment Acceptance Binding Agreement (MRABA) stating they would be willing to receive a membership invitation from any organization listed on their MRABA form. We'll share more infomation about this step in the process throughout recruitment.

Tuesday, September 3, 2019

Bid Day

PNMs will report to the Union to open a membership invite, a bid, from a chapter listed on their MRABA, and will have the opportunity to become a new member. Once women open their bids, they join their sisters for the remainder of the evening for activities and dinner.

Pre-Recruitment Events:

CPC will host pre-recruitment events that encourage PNMs to attend to learn more about sorority life and get any questions that you may have answered before the recruitment process starts.

Sweets with Sororities - this informal event will take place on Friday, August 19th before the semester begins and will allow you to meet women from each of our organizations! And of course there will be tasty treats provided! Plan to be at the Tanner Plaza (by the Union) at 6:00pm!

Recruitment Info Sessions - on Monday, August 26th at 3:00pm and Wednesday, August 28th at 7:00pm join us in the Saltair room of the Student Union for a presentation on what recruitment is like! Bring any questions you might have!

Things to Keep in Mind:

  • If this is your first time on the CampusDirector recruitment registration site, you will have to create an account and then from the drop-down menu select “I would like to join a sorority/fraternity.” Then you will enter your information and proceed forward. Participants will need to remember their login and password information as it will be needed throughout the recruitment week. If you have already used CampusDirector, your login information will be the same as when you set up your account. You will need to re-submit your information on the registration form.
  • An individual’s registration is not complete until the payment is received.
  • This is an individual experience. Go into recruitment with an open mind.
  • Alcohol, drugs, and hazing are not tolerated in the University of Utah Fraternity and Sorority Community and should not be a part of the recruitment, nor new member process. If you feel uncomfortable with any part of the recruitment or new member process, do not hesitant to reach out to the Office of Fraternity & Sorority Life, the Office of the Dean of Students or University of Utah campus police.

If you have any questions throughout the recruitment process, please contact Annie Crandell, PHC VP of Recruitment, or the Office of Fraternity & Sorority Life.
