Each year, fraternities and sororities set aside time to meet students interested in joining a Greek letter organization. It is an opportunity for interested students to ask questions and learn about the different chapters on campus. Recruitment gives students and organizations the chance to interact and to get to know one another.
Typically, most recruitment happens during the first 2-3 weeks of each semester, with fall being the heaviest recruitment time. However, you can join at any point during your undergraduate career based on when is best for you!

In the fall, the Interfraternity Council (IFC) hosts an "organized" recruitment process that begins during the first week of classes with various informational events before each chapter begins their own recruitment activities. This organized process ends with Bid Day on August 31st, which is the first time you can formall accept a bid with the Office of Fraternity & Sorority Life. Register for this process here. After this period, organizations can continue to recruit, and most likely will, in order to start preparing for their spring new member class!
For the sororities, the College Panhellenic Council (CPC) hosts formal recruitment over Labor Day weekend. You mustregister for this process before August 29th! There is a $50 fee to participate in this process, but this covers food and recruitment materials you will need to be successful. During formal recruitment, you will meet all 7 members of the College Panhellenic Council, but Kappa Delta Chi Sorority, Inc. does not fully participate in this process. If you are interested in joining KDChi, contact us here. Formal Recruitment is a mutual-selection process that cna be best described as a funnel: on Day 1 you will meet all the groups and in the following days you will return to fewer organizations until you arrive at the Union on September 3rd for Bid Day! In the spring, there is not gaurantee that any sororitiy will be recruiting; it is very common that some will recruit, the fall is your best opportunity to maximize your options.
What if I'm not completely sure I want to join a fraternity or sorority?
That's okay! Joining a fraternity or sorority is a life-long commitment. If you aren't completely sure you want to join, please feel free to visit IFC of CPC's tables during the Involvement Fair at New Student and Transfer Orientations during the summer or come into the Office of Fraternity & Sorority Life while on a campus tour.
