Governing Councils

The University of Utah Fraternity and Sorority Community consists of 18 recognized chapters. Each of those individual chapters is a member of a governign council, either the Interfraternity Council or the College Panhellenic Council. All councils promote scholarship, leadership, community engagement and lifelong friendships.

Chapters elect leaders from the community to serve as executive officers on each of the governing councils. These officers serve a calendary year term and are responsible for policy creation, implementatio, and  council-wide events and programs. The executive board officers work closely with the Office of Fraternity & Sorority Life in achieving their goals and fulfilling their responsibilities.

Interfraternity Council (IFC):

The Interfraternity Council (IFC) is the governing body for the 11 inter/national fraternities on the University of Utah’s campus. Many of these fraternities are members of the North American Interfraternity Conference (NIC). While not all organizations are members of the NIC, those groups still adhere to all IFC and University of Utah policies and procedures.

The IFC is dedicated to the advancement and growth of the fraternal community and the enhancement of the educational mission of the U. Follow IFC on Instagram at @Utah_IFC!

 College Panhellenic Council (CPC):

The College Panhellenic Council (CPS) serves as the coordinating and governing body of the 6 National Panhellenic Council (NPC) sororities on campus at the University of Utah as well as two Associate Members of the council who do not belong to the NPC.  The College Panhellenic is here to ensure women are fully equipped to balance the sorority experience with their academic endevours in order to make the most of their undergraduate years.
