Sigma Phi Epsilon

Sigma Phi Epsilon strives to create balanced men to empower them to become leaders for tomorrow's community. By using the three cardinal principles of Virtue, Diligence, and Brotherly Love, SigEp has been building balanced men at the University of Utah since its local founding on February 25, 1950.

Around 15,000 SigEp undergraduates are on 240 college campuses each year.  They are among more than 305,000 lifetime brothers who have joined since its national founding on November 1, 1901.

SigEp revolutionized the fraternity movement in 1991 by unveiling the Balanced Man Program (BMP), a concept of single-tiered membership and continuous development that begins the day a brother joins. SigEp believes the stereotypical fraternity experience does not fulfill the needs of today’s college male.  The BMP offers an experience focused on scholarship, leadership, professional development and life skills.

The day you get a bid from SigEp is the day you are a brother, there is no “pledging” process. We believe the Balanced Man Program is a more effective way of member development.

We raise money for the Big Brothers Big Sisters Foundation of Utah. As the nation’s largest donor and volunteer supported mentoring network, Big Brothers Big Sisters makes meaningful, monitored matches between adult volunteers (“Bigs”) and children (“Littles”), ages 6 through 18, in communities across the country.

The Big Brothers Big Sisters Mission is to provide children facing adversity with strong and enduring, professionally supported one-to-one relationships that change their lives for the better, forever.

The Big Brothers Big Sisters Vision is that all children achieve success in life.
